CLC Students Debate Global Issues at Model UN Conference in Chicago

Thirty-four Crystal Lake Central students participated in a Model UN conference hosted in Chicago this month. Model UN works to give students an educational simulation of the United Nations while learning about diplomacy and international issues.
Over four days, the students were assigned the countries of Mongolia, Iceland, and Tuvalu and tasked with two global issues their countries are involved in. The students wrote position papers on the issues and spoke in committees to collaborate and compromise with students representing other countries. The conference gave students a great opportunity to practice skills they learned in Model UN club while meeting and working with other high school students to solve important issues.
